Greetings, digital traveler! You have arrived at the “Questions and Answers” section for the 2024 edition. In this year’s satisfaction survey, certain questions repeatedly came up in various forms, so we’d like to address them here.
Does the festival have facilities for bicycles? We couldn’t find them.
Yes, bike racks are regularly placed near the lockers, and this will continue in the coming years.
Why wasn’t the bus line from Nasavrky reinforced on Sunday morning?
Negotiations can sometimes be more complicated than initially expected. However, it is among our priorities for next year.
Why aren’t there portable toilets in the parking area?
The use of fields/meadows available to us during the festival is precisely specified by the landowners and the CHKO Železné hory (Protected Landscape Area). Therefore, it’s not possible to use the camping meadow for parking or the parking meadow for camping. Based on these rules, we cannot place toilets in the parking meadow. Additionally, this is the only meadow that remains accessible even in rainy conditions.
Why can’t we buy separate tickets for concerts?
Most festivals only offer full-day or multi-day tickets. We try to be more accommodating by offering the option to visit just the historical program (without concerts). Our goal is to introduce the public to Celtic culture, which is why we offer not only concerts but also a variety of workshops, lectures, and fun thematic programs for both children and adults.
Why wasn’t the grass mowed in the meadows?
Mowing the meadows around the skanzen (open-air museum) is dictated by the needs of the farmers who own them. The festival often causes the fertilization schedule of these meadows to be adjusted.
Why are there no trash bins in the campsite?
Trash bags were available at several locations in the campsite so that visitors wouldn’t have to walk back and forth to a bin multiple times but could conveniently collect their trash in their bags and later dispose of it in the festival area bins. However, we take every question seriously and will consider how to better communicate this information.
Why are there no showers available?
We are located in the CHKO Železné hory. Therefore, the water from showers, which must be drained somewhere, can only be discharged into the sewer system. The current festival site layout does not accommodate this.
Will the lecture tent be larger next year? Many visitors couldn’t get inside.
Due to the high interest in lectures, we increase the capacity of the lecture tent every year. However, it still wasn’t enough to meet your demand this year. We will strive to increase capacity again next year.
Why don’t we have reusable cups?
We tested the concept of reusable cups in previous years, but it didn’t prove successful. We create new cups every year based on the festival theme – only a few hundred pieces – so it doesn’t make sense to keep a stockpile.
Does the festival have a place for changing and breastfeeding?
Yes, it does. It’s located at the back of the skanzen, where there is a tent with a children’s corner and a place for quiet changing and breastfeeding. You can also use a shaded spot in the grove.
Was utility and drinking water available in the area?
Yes, you could refresh yourself and drink at several locations – a cistern was placed near the campsite, drinking water was available in the festival area in the administrative building toilets, and also in the grove at the skanzen. We will consider how to better highlight and communicate this information.
Why do we have paper wristbands/strips instead of cloth or other, nicer options?
It’s important to realize that compared to larger festivals, we need to cover costs primarily for an attractive program before other items. The current paper strips best meet our requirements without significantly affecting ticket prices.
Why can’t cars drive up to the campsite?
There is a traffic ban on Lesní Street, which leads to the entrance of the festival area, throughout the festival for the safety of visitors and to maintain smooth traffic flow. Allowing entry would significantly complicate supply logistics and performer transportation. Additionally, we wouldn’t be able to ensure the safe movement of visitors near the festival entrance.
How are bands selected? Will we ever see Faun, Heilung, Wardruna, etc., at Lughnasad?
Selecting bands is a very challenging task – it’s the most expensive part of the program, yet our resources are limited. We aim to balance the lineup every year so that you can enjoy your favorite performers from both the Czech Republic and abroad, while also discovering new or emerging stars of Celtic/Irish folk. The mentioned bands like Faun, Wardruna, and Heilung hold solo concerts, which – as you surely know – are in a different price range than a festival ticket. It’s not within our means to invite these bands to our stage. You also frequently request a concert by Omnia – we’ve been in contact with the band several times, but they haven’t performed in years and do not plan to return to the stage.
Why don’t our medical staff provide products like Fenistil, Ibalgin, etc.?
The medical team provides first aid in emergency situations where you are unable to help yourself with available means. They may treat you and hand you over to the care of the emergency services. They do not carry commonly available medications, which are typically part of a personal first aid kit.
Why don’t we recycle glass?
There is one container for glass near the campsite. To recycle more glass, we would need to rent a larger capacity container. Currently, we still have challenges efficiently sorting plastics and mixed waste.
Haven’t you filled out our survey yet?
Click here to provide your feedback on this year’s Lughnasad: SATISFACTION SURVEY
The purpose of this survey is to get your perspective on the festival, what you liked, what could be improved, and other observations. You can fill out the survey anonymously. We use all the information to prepare future editions of Lughnasad, and all information remains within the team.
